Before you can learn to drive on the road you will need a provisional driving licence. You can apply for one from the age of 15 years and 9 months. However, normally you must wait until you are 17 years of age to drive on the public roads.
An easy way to get a provisional licence is to apply online at www.gov.uk/apply-first-provisional-driving-licence. The cost for online applications is currently £34.
When you get started at reputable driving school an instructor will ask to see your licence before you begin to drive. You will also need to bring your valid licence with you for a theory or practical driving test.
