The question, how many driving lessons will I need to pass my driving test? Is a common one we get asked. The answer to this is that each person has a different rate of learning. Some people learn quicker whilst others take longer.
There are learner drivers who are ready to take their driving test in a matter of week and there are others who take months to over a year to reach a safe test standard. We recommend putting safety first and learning at a comfortable rate which is best for you.
Quality lessons often leads to better and faster learning. Cheap lessons may seen like an attractive option at first, but usually end up costing more in the long run whilst holding back progression and confidence.
On average, the amount of lessons needed for a learner to get test ready is around 45 hours of professional driving tuition alongside having 22 hours of private practice.
Although not every learner will need this many hours, for those who simply want a quicker way to pass, you could consider taking a course of intensive driving lessons for faster results. These are multiple lessons in a week rather than one or two hourly sessions.
Once you have reach a certain stage in your driving and your instructor thinks you are ready, you could consider extra practice with a member of your family or a friend. It is a good idea to choose someone who you will be comfortable with. Plenty of practice can certainly help with your progress.
The person you choose to accompany you must :

- Have at least 3 years of qualified driving experience.
- Be insured to drive the car.
You must also display the correct legal size of L-Plates clearly at the front and rear of the car.
